We are looking for an experienced Project Architect to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of predominantly residential projects and further develop your architectural career.
The Role
As a qualified Architect, you will contribute to all stages of project delivery, from concept and Planning applications to technical detailing and subsequent site inspections. This is a hands-on role working closely with consultants, contractors and clients.
Our practice maintains long-standing client relationships and continues to grow steadily, delivering a variety of residential projects. We are based in East Preston village, a 25-minute walk from Angmering train station, with free parking available close to the office.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake initial consultations and prepare fee proposals.
- Lead client briefing meetings, and develop concept designs associated outline costs and presentations.
- Support, mentor and manage team members, communicating design ideas effectively and contributing to professional development.
- Coordinate with consultants and contractors, and maintain clear communication with clients throughout all project stages.
- Attend site meetings/inspections, and assist in monitoring construction progress.
- Contribute to internal design reviews working collaboratively to uphold design quality across all stages.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Skills and Requirements
- ARB-registered with full RIBA Part III qualifications.
- Minimum 5+ years’ professional experience, with post-Part II experience in a UK architectural practice.
- Strong technical background, with experience delivering residential projects across RIBA Stages 3-5.
- A portfolio demonstrating creative thinking and design process.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Sketchup experience beneficial but not essential.
- A rigorous approach to technical detailing and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of Planning requirements and process, UK Building Regulations and British Standards.
- Strong conceptual and design skills, with the ability to think creatively, critically and technically.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and flexibility in response to evolving project needs, along with a willingness to contribute to practice-wide dialogue and design development.
- Clear written and spoken English with strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, consultants and clients.
